Hardly Strictly Bluegrass... generally our favorite weekend in SF. Amazing music, friends... all for free at Golden Gate Park.

Finally, we hung out in town. Made a cornhole set (learned to sew!). Took Mingus to his favorite dog park.

Back up to Yosemite. This time with Messy to do some climbing. blog.

Did some bike rides... like a full moon ride up diablo (failed)... started doing some sunrise rides... (blog).. and a tandem ride.

Went up to Trinity Alps with the 7 Alpine Crew. blog.

The year 2008 in pictures... part 3

  • July
Forth of July! Went back up to High Sierra Music Fest... our 4th? or 5th time... always an amazing weekend. Had to miss my HS reunion for that one.

And the wedding season begins. Good ole' Tele Pete and his lady decided to have theirs in Yosemite a month before ours! Good choice Pete. Weddings are always fun, but Pete and Heather's wedding at the Evergreen Lodge was really, really fun.

Aaron & Chelsea tied the knot the following weekend in Berkeley. Very classy.

Funk, Alex, Mendel and I went on a full moon kayak paddle in a "slough", slept on the beach, and went kayak surfing all day... then went straight to Aaron and Chelsea's ceremony.

The next weekend, it was Kimbo and I's joint bachelor, bachelorette party at Kirby Cove. A perfect weekend in the bay area. Lot's of games...

  • August
Weekend before the wedding... needed to get spiritual in the mountains. Did the Palisades Traverse with Splitboard Stevie... a LONG day involving summiting five 14,000 ft + peaks. Saw Peter Croft the day before... that's Steve in awe as he lapped us 6 times freesoloing harder routes...

The next weekend... let's see... oh. We got married.

Then went on a short honeymoon to Santa Barbara, Channel Islands (where we saw 1000s of dolphins, sea kayaked, snorkeled, swam, and camped), and visited LA... see blog.

We hung out the next weekend, went to Outside Lands, relaxed, took no pics.

And for the long Labor Day weekend, we went out to Mammoth with Dave and Danielle for Demolition Derby... blog.... Kim found some yummy pulled pork. She's excited.

  • September

April was a great month! Skied Kirkwood on Saturday (last day), then rode a century in the N. Bay on Sun on the first weekend.

Went up to Tomales Bay for an overnight kayaking trip.

Did some midweek paddles through cal canoe and kayak. They teach great classes (surf zone - highly recommended), but don't have the best customer service...

The year 2008 in pictures... part 1

Since other folks are doing it... I might as well... although my pics aren't as professional as some of these.

New Year's in Yosemite is always a good start to a new year.

  • January
Ski Cabin time...

Went up Tallac with Nick.

Toured in the Desolations with Funk and Nick the following weekend... a good way to deal with the horrendous snow conditions...

Got to enjoy some Snowkiting the next day in the meadow next to the house... a little gusty, but fun nevertheless. Mingie liked chasing me around too.

Jasper came down to join the Bay Area crew to goof around at Kirkwood

  • February
Carson Pass B/C, first time at Sierra...lots of snow

Next weekend was very different... warm, sunny... went up Angora Peak with Tim, Hoefty, and Jasper.

The next day, we all hung out at the cabin, and constructed a snowcave.

And the following weekend... off to the Sawtooths with Metres and Nick.

The weather changed yet again... so we went right back up to Tahoe for some pow-pow fun

And back to the E. Side to Rock Creek the next weekend with Kimbo, Kelly, and Nick to ski the Cat's Ears Couloir.

  • March
After leaving town for the last 8 consecutive weekends to go skiing, we stayed in town to kayak around Alameda with Moses, Seth, Julie, and Kimbo.

But enough of that... went back up to Tahoe to ski the next weekend, and Kimbo's parents visited Tahoe with us.

And off to Colorado with Funk. Scrambled up Ancient Art on the way out, I placed 16th at the Telemark National Extreme Ski Championships, skied some great terrain at Crested Butte. No injuries, a memorable trip.

And back at Kirkwood...

Then Kimbo and I escaped up to Mendo for the weekend... check out that circumzenithal arc

Not a bad start... part 2 coming soon.
