Turkey Day with Peter Grubb (Nov 27, 2008)

Another great weekend in the mountains!!! I mean how can you not have a good weekend in the mountains with your friends. I haven't had one yet...

Met up with Goodall the night before thanxgiving


Matty joined Kimbo and I's tandem ride to Sausalito on thanksgiving morning to get our appetite going...


Went over to Allison's for a feast. They had 2 turkeys... we made twice baked potatoes, Matty made his derby pie (bringing Kentucky with him wherever he goes...it's yummy, ask him for the recipe), and we learned how to play bridge (still need a few lessons).


...the next morning, we drove up to Peter Grubb Hut with Win, Kate, and Mingus... and met up with Rob, Sara, Jiselle, Messy, Funk, Alex, Ann, Alexis, Mi-Suk, Kimbo, and I...

First... we watched the sunset with a flask of Jack


Played with Jiselle while drinking C- (look how blue her eyes are!!)


Then the games got out of hand...

Played:
Cacho (learned from Kevin Smith)...
Liar's Dice
golf (card game), nails, mafia, celebrity, a**hole, monopoly, chess, and more...all the while drinking a few gallons of wine, whiskey, rum, beer, and vodka!!!

The next morning, after we got smoked out as funk placed a piece of wood on top of the stove and closed the vent... (thanx Alexis for saving us)

...and after Ann and Alex cooked up a feast,
we went on a hike... first up Mt. Basin


...then traversed the ridge to castle peak... where we met up with Kim, Kate, and Julie


...on the way down we climbed little gendarme-ish, loose, volcanic, phallic, pinnacles


... and tossed the bee around... (unfortunately for this one, this was it's second to last throw, as the wind took it after a short toss, only to be never found again...)


Then we got back to the hut for more games...
Funk warming up for a game of nails...


... and playing Smash-a-can (where you spin around the hammer 10 times, then try to smash a can of redbull on the log...)




...kick the can.

After sunset, it got cold, and dark... so we went inside to the warm, cozy hut, for more games.
...like celebrity (alex was king)




...and rolled the dice into the night...


Breakfast quesadillas... these are key at a hut with a wood or pellet stove.




Flew a kite... the first day, it was too windy, and we broke the line twice... the second day was a little unsteady, but still fun... check it out folks, these kites are fairly cheap... if you want some of my suggestions, hit me up.


Stopped at the Auburn Alehouse on the way back... Kimbo explaining the layers of the Napolean salad...
