Annapurna Circuit - part 3 of 4...

OK... the second to the last portion of the picture journal (I added another section as I didn't finish here) ... if you recall, we just made it over the pass and we're going down hill for the next few days before we head back up to ABC (Annapurna Base Camp AKA Annapurna Sanctuary). This portion gets hit by a torrent of folks as many people do the "Poon Hill Hike" (5 days), or the "Sanctuary" (10 days)

Deforestation is a big issue on the Annapurna Circuit. So these Solar Cookers are a fantastic alternative to a wood fired stove...

The solar cooker above is from a local nunnery we visited just outside of Muktinath. She was kind enough to make us milk tea and tell us her story. Born and raised in Mustang Valley (the restricted area accessible only with a permit and a guide), she explained that the Mustang region has really been isolated and has kept its traditional Tibetan roots.

... though the tea wasn't the best... you'll have to try it yourself.

Looking down to Kagbeni (my favorite town we visited on the circuit)... we didn't spend a night there, but should have.

...

One of the longer suspension bridges on the trek... whenever you get scared... just remember that dozens of cows cross these bridges almost daily... or not...

The sequel...

...hit another traffic jam

The point where glacial melt meets muddy water...

Sean + baby goats = ???

At Tatopani (pani = water, tato = hot)... this was amazing.

Poon Hill... this is a very popular lookout, and some people just do the 5 day loop that takes you to Poon Hill and back out.

The Annapurnas behind us... it's amazing how quickly you go from really, really cold... to really, really hot and schweaty... we're on our way up to ABC now...
